In math this week, we had to make bundles of ten and understand that ten ones are just one group of ten. To practice making bundles of ten, each table had to work together to sort through cards with "cupcakes" on them and create a box of 10. The above picture is an example of one table's bundle. To continue practicing tens, tables had to work together to investigate a number card and decide how many more are needed to make a bundle using that number.
In Language Arts, we made tree maps (a thinking map) to brainstorm what is special about us. We learned so many amazing things about our classmates! We focused on two categories: ourselves and our families. When our tree maps were finished, we created an " All About Me" foldable book. We could make our book about ourselves or our family. These activities are helping to prepare us for the unit 1 theme in Treasures (Language Arts curriculum), "What Makes You Special?". Parents: See our Room 5 Class Dojo stories for more pictures!
