Week of September 19th:
In comprehension this week, we begin investigating the story The Wizard of Oz. In grammar, we began learning about adjectives and that adjectives are describing words. In writing, we had to work hard on our first district writing task of the school year. The prompt asked us to write an opinion piece about which pig (from The Three Little Pigs) we think is the wisest. We had to include topic and conclusion sentences, as well as 3 details to support our opinion. We were able to use our previous knowledge from studying The Three Little Pigs in our lessons earlier this school year. In reading, we began taking tests on the books we have read from the library on Accelerated Reader. In math we continued working on unit 2, which is using data to add and subtract. We specifically focused on using the strategy of counting on to subtract. We will be finishing up unit 2 and taking the summative assessment next week. The PBIS social skill of the week was disagreeing appropriately.
